Make sure surface is clean
and free of debris. If installing on a car or vehicle, we recommend cleaning the surface once with a household cleaner (glass cleaner or multi-surface), then again with denatured or rubbing alcohol to remove wax & oil. Temperature should be between 60 – 98 degrees. Work in an enclosed area if possible.

small_stickers
Small stickers
can be installed as you may have done in the past. Just peel the backing off carefully and stick. After backing is peeled off, hold (hover) sticker just above desired position and start from one end, working down to the other end using a back and forth motion.

1. Large Decalslarge_tools

Large decals involve a few more steps. You should have masking tape, scissors, burnisher (supplied with large decals), opt: tape measure & hobby knife (X-acto). If your decal is over 3′ high or side, follow Large Decal Installation Insturuction
.

2. Position your decal/sticker and hold it in place2

with a few small pieces of tape in the upper corners (opt. at this point you would measure, moving each corner separately in small increments until desired position is achieved).

3. When satisfied with the position3

use a long piece of masking tape (2 or 3 overlapping pieces if you have a large decal) and apply vertically through the middle of the graphic. This will act as a “hinge”.

4. Remove tape from one of the corners
4
and pull that half of the decal back over the center hinge (carefully, not to remove hinge)

5. Carefully peel the backing
5
until it is flat against surface. Take your scissors and cut off release liner in a straight line. Don’t cut too close to the hinge, you don’t want to scratch surfaces!

6. Hold decal several inches from the surface6
(you may need to switch hands). Starting from the center, use the burnisher to adhere sticker using an up and down motion (back and forth if using a horizontal hinge) until you reach the end.

Note: If you have a custom cut sticker/decal with many protruding shapes, it is important to avoid using your burnisher on these shapes in anything but an outward motion. Instead, start every stroke of your burnisher from the center of the decal. Please contact us for more info regarding this type of installation, or to find out if your decal meets this description.

7. Remove the remaining tape/hinge
7
from the sticker and fold over (as in step # 4)

8. Remove backing from remaining side
8
and repeat step 6. You’re finished!

Disclaimer:

Do not apply stickers / decals to paper surfaces, Drywall, Painted Drywall, Flaking paint, (unless you understand that they cannot be removed without damage to both Sticker and Surface) wet paint, Unpainted (outdoor) metal surfaces or rusty surfaces, heavily textured surfaces, bumpy surfaces, course leather, etc.
Thoroughly clean and inspect the surface where sticker is to be applied- making sure surface is clean and smooth. If surface is painted- check for peeling, cracking or blistering of surface. If the painted surface has any of these weaknesses, removing the sticker/decal may cause damage to finish.

It is the customers responsibility to apply graphics according to Freakdecals installation guidelines. Orders must be returned to us prior to refund. Returned orders that appear to have been applied and removed will not be honored. If you have not received an order placed with Freakdecals, provide us with any shipping information that you may have. If product has been shipped to a wrong address- Freakdecals will honor refund only if the error occurred on Freakdecals part.

Freakdecals is not responsible for damage to surfaces that our product has been applied to for any reason. See our installation guide for details. Freakdecals are sold “as is” and are not assumed to be removable/repositionable. Smaller stickers /decals are printed on paper and will be destroyed upon removal- they may also leave adhesive and paper on surface (like any paper sticker) that may be removed when care is used. Outdoor stickers can be removed from non-porous surfaces without damage to the surface if care is used during removal. See Installation guidelines.

Sun bleaching on outdoor stickers will be accelerated in Southwestern and southern states, but should maintain integrity for the life of our warranty.

Removal of Decal: Using a blowdryer, place on lowest setting and use a sweeping motion along one edge of sticker. When surface and decal are very warm, start lifting the edge and pull up slowly. A higher setting may be used on your blow dryer if too difficult. Keep the blow dryer moving ahead of where pulling occurs.
