Make sure surface is clean
and free of debris. If installing on a car or vehicle, we recommend cleaning the surface once with a household cleaner (glass cleaner or multi-surface), then again with denatured or rubbing alcohol to remove wax & oil. Temperature should be between 60 – 98 degrees. Work in an enclosed area if possible.

1. Tools1_make_sure_surface_is_clean

You should have wide masking or duct tape, scissors, appropriate bit/screwdriver for rivets, burnisher (supplied with large decals), opt: tape measure & hobby knife (X-acto).

2. Remove rivets* where graphic goeslarge_tools
Position your decal/sticker and hold it in place with a few small pieces of tape in the upper corners (opt. at this point you would measure, moving each corner separately in small increments until desired position is achieved).

*If you do not have removable rivets, the best way to work with them is to ignore them. This means don’t dawdle! Use smooth, uniform strokes as if they were not there. You will be able to correct most ripples and small overlaps with a little heat later. Take a deep breath and go for it

3. When satisfied with the position
use a long piece of tape (2 or 3 overlapping pieces if using masking tape) and apply vertically through the middle of the graphic. This will act as a “hinge”

large3

4. Remove tape from one of the corners
and pull that half of the decal back over the center hinge (carefully, not to remove hinge)

large4

5. Carefully peel the backing off
until it is flat against surface (top image). Take your scissors and cut off release liner in a straight line (bottom image). Don’t cut too close to the hinge, you don’t want to scratch surfaces!

6. Hold decal several inches from the surface
(you may need to switch hands). Starting from the center, use the burnisher to adhere Decal using an up and down motion (back and forth if using a horizontal hinge) until you reach the end.

7. Remove the remaining tape/hinge
from the sticker and fold over (as in step # 4)

large7

8. Remove backing from remaining side
and repeat step 6. Note: you can peel remaining backing half way. This can make handling easier. Just remove the rest before that burnisher gets to ya

9. Cleanup
Where seams are: Take the burnisher and push the decal into it as much as possible, but don’t push it under

large9

10. Carefully cut the decal where the seams occur
and burnish again. Making sure the decal is secure

large10

11. Remove transfer film – TRANSFER FILM IS A WHITE (little transparent) FILM. Almost all of our RV Murals do NOT have transfer film, if you are questioning this please CALL us before trying to remove!

12. Replace Rivets/Screws
and enjoy a refreshing tall cold beverage. …or 2

Disclaimer:

Do not apply stickers / decals to paper surfaces, Drywall, Painted Drywall, Flaking paint, (unless you understand that they cannot be removed without damage to both Sticker and Surface) wet paint, Unpainted (outdoor) metal surfaces or rusty surfaces, heavily textured surfaces, bumpy surfaces, course leather, etc.
Thoroughly clean and inspect the surface where sticker is to be applied- making sure surface is clean and smooth. If surface is painted- check for peeling, cracking or blistering of surface. If the painted surface has any of these weaknesses, removing the sticker/decal may cause damage to finish.

It is the customers responsibility to apply graphics according to Freakdecals installation guidelines. Orders must be returned to us prior to refund. Returned orders that appear to have been applied and removed will not be honored. If you have not received an order placed with Freakdecals, provide us with any shipping information that you may have. If product has been shipped to a wrong address- Freakdecals will honor refund only if the error occurred on Freakdecals part.

Freakdecals is not responsible for damage to surfaces that our product has been applied to for any reason. See our installation guide for details. Freakdecals are sold “as is” and are not assumed to be removable/repositionable. Smaller stickers /decals are printed on paper and will be destroyed upon removal- they may also leave adhesive and paper on surface (like any paper sticker) that may be removed when care is used. Outdoor stickers can be removed from non-porous surfaces without damage to the surface if care is used during removal. See Installation guidelines.

Sunbleaching on outdoor stickers will be accelerated in Southwestern and southern states, but should maintain integrity for the life of our warranty.

Removal of Decal: Using a blowdryer, place on lowest setting and use a sweeping motion along one edge of sticker. When surface and decal are very warm, start lifting the edge and pull up slowly. A higher setting may be used on your blowdryer if too difficult. Keep the blowdryer moving ahead of where pulling occurs.
